Union Villa dinner party supports dementia care
The Union Villa Dinner Party serves as the signature fundraiser for the Unionville Home Society Foundation. This year’s event aims to raise community awareness of long-term care, with the proceeds dedicated to implementing DementiAbility, a new care model for Union Villa. This innovative, dementia-friendly approach focuses on the holistic needs of residents living with dementia. Prioritizing this initiative is essential for Union Villa as we strive to promote a life filled with purpose and meaningful connections.
“The support from the community significantly impacts our ability to invest in new technologies, fund upgrades to nursing equipment, and enhance our residents’ living spaces, all of which are vital for providing the best care for those entrusted to us,” says Maria Dimson, UHS development director.
The UHS Foundation acts as the charitable branch of the Unionville Home Society, offering financial assistance to enrich resident experiences and improve the home-like atmosphere at Union Villa long-term care home. The foundation has organized an annual gala since the late 1990s, with each event helping seniors age well and live better.
Amaar Naqi, Chair of the Unionville Home Society Foundation, says, “The Union Villa Dinner Party serves as a platform to raise awareness, highlight our residents’ needs, and seek community support to achieve our ultimate goal: to continually provide the best care and environment for our residents.”
This year’s event is scheduled for November 7 at Angus Glen Golf Club, with the reception beginning at 6 p.m. Guests can look forward to fine dining, a silent auction, live jazz entertainment, and opportunities to network and foster community relationships.
