Triple threat a storyteller on stage
From her earliest days at Sandra Amodeo Dance Studio, nine-year-old Emily Brudnoy has been a storyteller who brings warmth, authenticity and a sense of belonging to every stage.
Whether performing a musical theatre solo at a regional competition, playing Mason the monkey in Artsies’ production of Madagascar Junior, or singing and playing piano at Arcadia’s upcoming holiday concert, Emily’s expressive style and open-hearted presence invite audiences to feel, reflect and celebrate together.
“I love being on stage because it’s not just about me. It’s about sharing something special with everyone in the room,” Emily says. “When I dance or sing, I want people to remember how it made them feel.”
Her teachers and peers describe Emily as someone who lifts others up, offering encouragement and friendship in rehearsals and competitions. She’s earned recognition such as the Sandra Amodeo Dance Studio Broadway Bound Triple Threat Intensive Scholarship (2024) and high-score medals at Dance Canada, as well as On The Floor and Shock Dance Challenges.
“Raising a triple threat – someone who dances, sings and acts – means nurturing resilience, creativity and empathy,” says Liat Brudnoy, Emily’s parent. “The performing arts teach children to work hard, to listen, to express themselves and to support others. For any parent considering enrolling their little one in the arts, I’d say it’s not just about the applause or the medals. It’s about giving them a safe space to discover who they are, to build confidence and to find joy in the journey. That’s the real reward.”
Emily continues to train in dance, musical theatre, piano and voice. This fall, she will participate in the inaugural Find Your Light theatre experience, as well as the Markham Theatre Broadway Performance Intensive. Follow her creative journey on Instagram @emilybrudnoyperformancearts.
