Supporting homeless and at-risk youth
For the past 17 years, the Unionville Youth Council has been committed to gathering gifts and gift cards for the Covenant House Wish List, which helps homeless youth in need.
For young people experiencing homelessness, each day is a battle for survival. Many of these kids have been mistreated or abandoned by their families, leaving them isolated and alone on the streets. “They need our help!” the Unionville Youth Council urges. “Please consider being part of this Christmas Wish List drive. You have no idea what this does to assist these young people.”
UYC advisor Don Roe expressed his personal dedication to the cause: “I have the great blessing of working with the Unionville Youth Council. Each one of these youth are very special to me. The thought of anyone of them going through a difficult challenge or hardship hurts me deeply. We want to help support Covenant House and the youth on the street with your help.
“We know we are going through difficult and challenging times now coming out of the pandemic, and the economy is not good, but any help or assistance would be so appreciated.”
Covenant House has been a beacon of hope for over 43 years, providing nearly 100,000 homeless youth with a path to stability and a brighter future. “Like all kids, homeless youth deserve the promise of a bright future,” Roe said. “A gift from the Covenant House Wish List will show them that even though their families may have turned their backs, there are people in the world who care about them. Show these kids that they have not been forgotten or discarded.”
Give the gift of dignity, acceptance and hope. This is a chance to make a difference in the lives of these young people. You may never know the impact of your gift at this time. The time is now. UYC is asking for gift card donations.
