Fresh Food Markets provide quality produce at affordable prices

York Region Food Network (YRFN) organizes affordable fresh food markets in towns and cities across the region.

YRFN, a charitable organization, develops high-quality food programs that feature fresh produce from local farmers and suppliers at accessible prices.

Sophie Srebot, YRFN food programs and policy assistant, emphasizes the markets’ community-centred focus, saying, “We want the markets to reflect the communities in which we live, so we aim to offer culturally appropriate produce and encourage people of all socio-economic backgrounds to attend.”

The markets allow residents to access nutritious, affordable food while connecting with others.

The Markham market is held at Ebenezer United Church, 5000 Steeles Ave. East, on November 21, December 5, and December 19 from 1:30 to 3 p.m. The Stouffville market takes place at St. James Presbyterian Church, 6432 Main St., on November 20, December 4, and December 18 from 2 to 4:30 p.m.
