Golf tournaments support non-profit organizations

Regional Councillor Alan Ho recently hosted his 10th Charity Golf Tournament: “Golf Delivers Warmth & Love,” at Angus Glen Golf Club.

The event was co-hosted by Tommy Tam, President of the Canadian Golf Teachers Federation (Chinese Division), and Honorary Chair Mayor Frank Scarpitti. Through this successful event, Ho showcased the impactful role of community solidarity in advancing charitable causes.

Ho’s charity golf tournaments have been a catalyst for various initiatives, including the World’s Longest Dancing Dragon in Markham, a Guinness Book Record attempt. Beyond local efforts, the tournament has provided critical aid during disasters in regions such as Sichuan, Yunnan, Nepal, and McMurray wildfires and has contributed substantially to post-disaster reconstruction. The funds raised have also supported healthcare institutions, including Markham Stouffville Hospital, Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, Sinai Health System Toronto, and the Canadian Doctors for Medicare organization.

This year’s event focused on supporting eldercare organizations within the Greater Toronto Area. Funds raised will benefit the Mon Sheong Foundation, the Yee Hong Foundation, and the Carefirst Foundation, with a total donation of $35,400, comprising $11,800 for each foundation. This contribution will enhance eldercare and community support services, improving the quality of life for seniors and bolstering the daily operations, care services, and community activities of these organizations.

Ho extends his heartfelt thanks to all sponsors, participants, and volunteers whose support made this event a huge success.
