Schools celebrate golden anniversaries

Former students and staff were invited to take a walk down memory lane when two schools each celebrated their 50th anniversaries last week.

“St. Anthony Catholic Elementary School (CES) in Thornhill and St. John XXIII CES in Markham are places where lasting memories have been created and lifelong friendships have been formed for generations of York Region residents,” says Mark Brosens, senior manager of brand, marketing and communications with the York Catholic District School Board.

“Many residents are eagerly awaiting a chance to see the school that helped start them on their life journey,” he said in advance of the celebrations, each held Thursday, May 4 at their respective schools. St. Anthony CES is located on Kirk Drive and St. John XXIII CES is located on Krieghoff Avenue.
