100 Women Who Care Markham supports local non-profit organizations

The 100 Women Who Care group in Markham invites local women to come together four times a year to support local charities and not-for-profit organizations. At each meeting, members each contribute $100, collectively making a significant donation to a charity chosen by the group.

Founded in Jackson, Michigan by Karen Dunigan in 2006, 100 Women Who Care has grown into a global movement. The Markham chapter was established in 2015 by a group of dedicated local women who were inspired to make a difference in their community.

With 75 current members, the group is welcoming new participants to join and see the positive impact they can make. Members listen to presentations from fellow participants about potential charities to support, and each has a voice in the vote to decide where the collective donation will go.

One of the organization’s executives, Sara Sterling, highlighted the community spirit of the initiative, saying, “This is a great chance for women in the area to get to know each other, to network, to chat, and support local charities.”

The 100 Women Who Care meetings offer a simple yet powerful way to be directly involved in making a difference for local causes. The next meeting will be held on November 13 at the Markham District Veteran Association at 7 Washington St.
