Vedic Cultural Centre hosts inaugural 5K event

Lace up your sneakers and get ready to hit the pavement for a meaningful cause. The Vedic Cultural Centre is hosting its first-ever 5K Run & Walk on April 27, welcoming participants of all fitness levels—whether you’re a seasoned runner or prefer a leisurely stroll.

The event supports the Heritage Program fundraiser, bringing the community together for a day of fitness, camaraderie, and giving back.

In addition to the race, the Vedic Cultural Centre will continue its annual tradition of honouring the journey of the first Indians to the West under the British indentureship system. Through exhibits, performances, and presentations, this year’s Indian Arrival Day will mark its 27th year of recognizing the struggles and achievements of Indo-Caribbean communities in Canada.

The 187th Anniversary of the Arrival of Indians in the Western World will be commemorated on May 3 at the Vedic Cultural Centre (4345 14th Avenue, Markham).

Admission to the events is free, but donations are encouraged to support educational programs and forums highlighting Indo-Caribbean contributions to Canada.
