One Love Festival celebrates Caribbean culture

The One Love Festival returns to the Varley Art Gallery this summer, bringing two days of music, art, food, and community celebration to Markham. The free outdoor festival takes place Aug. 1 and 2 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Now in its second year, the festival celebrates Caribbean culture through live performances, interactive art-making activities for all ages, and access to the Varley Art Gallery’s summer exhibitions.

Visitors can also enjoy a variety of food options, including Caribbean cuisine. Artisan and community vendors will showcase jewellery, artwork, clothing and accessories, baked goods, and other unique products.

“With great music, food, art, and opportunities to connect, the festival celebrates the diversity, creativity, and spirit of the Markham community,” says Rachel Fell, Varley Art Gallery programs coordinator.
