Markham students earned perfect averages

Three Markham students are among seven York Catholic District School Board (YCDSB) students who graduated with a perfect 100 per cent average.

Anson Kwok graduated from the International Baccalaureate (IB) program at Father Michael McGivney Catholic Academy (C.A.) and will study mathematical and physical sciences at the University of Toronto.

Gregory Weigensberg graduated from St. Brother André Catholic High School and will attend Queen’s University to study life sciences. Chris Hanchen Zhang also graduated from the IB program at Father Michael McGivney C.A. and will study mechanical engineering at the University of Toronto.

Another seven YCDSB Top Scholars graduated with 99 per cent averages, including Rachael Chan of St. Augustine Catholic High School in Markham, who graduated with a 99.67 per cent average.

Each year, the YCDSB releases the names of its Top Scholars, the students who graduated from their secondary school with the highest grade based on the average of their six best Grade 12 courses. “Congratulations to our Top Scholars,” says YCDSB Director of Education John De Faveri. “This is a remarkable accomplishment and they should be very proud. I want to thank the staff, families and friends who supported these young leaders throughout their time at York Catholic.”
