Discover what York Regional Police (YRP) is doing in your neighbourhood and help prevent crime before it happens by attending a Zoom meeting to learn how to navigate the YRP Community Safety Data Portal.
The portal was launched in November and allows YRP to share information about crime across the region. Among other things, it features simple dashboards that show where and crime has taken place.
“It means we can be more transparent with our residents than ever before and we are confident that if members of our community are better informed about police-related incidents happening in their neighbourhoods, they will be better able to help our officers solve and prevent crime,” Const. Maniva Armstrong says of the portal, which was created by YRP’s Business Intelligence and Data Analytics Unit.
Graduates of the Level 1 Training Academy will learn how to submit tips and digital evidence, understand how to use various crime prevention strategies at home and in their neighbourhood, and how to view crime and road safety trends within their community.
The training session will be held Tuesday, July 26 from noon to 1 p.m. Learn more about the event and register here. A series of how-to videos to help navigate the site can be found here.
