Markham Concert Band is one of Canada’s largest community concert bands, with more than sixty adult members of all ages, united by their love of music.
The band, founded in 1978, will be at the Unionville Bandstand presenting a free afternoon concert from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Aug. 26.
Band president Heather Wardell says, “We hope Markham residents will come to Unionville Main Street and get a drink or snack from one of the street’s many great vendors then settle down at the Bandstand for some wonderful music.”
The concert will include several famous marches, a selection of Disney music, a hilarious medley of TV theme songs, and much more.
The band organizers say that they expect perfect weather, but if there’s a little rain, you’re welcome to join them under the bandstand to stay dry and get an up-close view of the performers.
In the fall, MCB will be performing at the Markham Fair on Oct. 1 and at the Flato Markham Theatre on Oct. 22
