Knowledge First supports students
To support students as they navigate this challenging year, Knowledge First – Canada’s largest RESP provider – will be sending over $1.5 million to more than 15,000 students nationwide, including 285 post-secondary students in Markham.
“We know that post-secondary students are struggling in this environment, facing unexpected expenses related to the pandemic, while often experiencing reductions in their part-time work,” said Carrie Russell, president and CEO of Knowledge First Financial. “All of this adds to the stresses of completing and succeeding in school. With this small gesture, we want to recognize these students and their resiliency and commitment towards education during these uncertain times. Whether used to contribute to their data or utility bills, fund an online app to relieve stress, or just give themselves a little more room in their weekly grocery budget, we want our students to know we are thinking and pulling for them.”
These funds come at a time of great uncertainty and challenge for students.
In fact, according to a recent survey commissioned by Knowledge First: 61 per cent of parents said that their child’s stress levels have increased since the start of the pandemic, and 34 per cent of parents said that COVID-19 has negatively impacted their ability to pay for their child’s post-secondary education.
The financial recognition is a small way for Knowledge First to help students in the communities they serve.
