International organist to perform in Unionville
Residents are invited to gather at Bethesda Lutheran Church on April 18 for an afternoon of music and community, featuring an organ recital and hymn fest celebrating the Resurrection. The event begins at 3 p.m. and is open to all.
Renowned Latvian organist Vita Kalnciema will present the featured recital. Kalnciema is a professor of organ at the Latvian Academy of Music in Riga and has served as Head of the Organ Department since 2008. An acclaimed concert organist and recitalist, she has performed in major cities across Europe—including Ukraine, Poland, the Baltic states, and Germany—as well as in the United States and Canada.
In addition to her international performance career, Kalnciema teaches at the Riga Cathedral Choir School and is widely respected for her compassionate and supportive approach to music education.
Her Unionville appearance offers a rare chance to experience an artist celebrated for both technical virtuosity and expressive sensitivity. The afternoon will also feature a hymn fest led by the Bethesda Lutheran Church choir, marking the congregation’s first hymn celebration of the year.
Admission is free, and everyone is welcome.
