Celebration of Resilience fundraiser supports survivors in Markham

Yellow Brick House will host its third annual Celebration of Resilience fundraising reception on May 6 at Angus Glen Golf Club, with proceeds supporting trauma-informed counselling programs for women and children.

Attendees can look forward to cuisine from some of York Region’s finest local restaurants and powerful survivor stories.

Yellow Brick House provides life-saving services and prevention programs to support women and children impacted by domestic violence, helping them rebuild their lives in a safe and supportive environment.

“Healing from trauma takes time, support, and a safe space. Our trauma-informed counselling programs help women and children rebuild their sense of safety, strengthen their resilience, and improve their long-term well-being,” says CEO Lorris Herenda.

“Every survivor’s journey is one of immense strength,” adds Herenda, “The Celebration of Resilience is a powerful reminder that when a community comes together, we can help save lives and ensure survivors can access the services and support they need when they need it.”

One survivor shares how Yellow Brick House transformed her life: “Emotional abuse is often easy to miss, but it can take just as long to heal. It slowly destroys your confidence and makes you doubt your intelligence, your sanity, and your worth. Yellow Brick House helped me reclaim my clarity, gave me back my courage, and the power to move forward.”
