Be a women’s heart health champion

“Anyone and everyone” who’d like to get active and raise awareness for women’s heart health is encouraged to join the Wear Red Canada Movement Challenge.

Wear Red Canada is celebrated annually across Canada on February 13. The campaign, powered by the Canadian Women’s Heart Health Alliance, helps fund programs that educate and advocate for women’s heart health in Canada.

Participants are invited to choose their physical activity of choice – such as running, walking, hiking, snowshoeing, skiing, yoga and dancing – and complete it anywhere between February 13 and 29. You don’t need to complete your movement challenge in one go. Track your progress towards a cumulative distance of five or 10 kilometres or a time of 30 or 60 minutes.

Register as an individual, create a team with family, friends and/or coworkers, or use the ‘View Teams’ button to search for a team to join. Registrants will receive a Wear Red Canada T-shirt and certificate of completion. The first 300 registrants will also receive a medal. You can opt out of receiving the T-shirt and medal if you’d prefer to go green.

Register before February 3 to ensure you receive your participant kit by February 13. Shipping and RaceRoster fees will be applied at checkout. Groups of three or more registrants will receive a 15 per cent discount. Upon registration completion, you’ll receive a unique link to collect online donations. You don’t need to register for the Movement Challenge to show your support. Click ‘donate to participant’ to search for an individual or a team to donate to instead.

Upon registration, you’ll receive an email with instructions on how to share your results to the online leaderboard but it’s also OK if you don’t want to share your results. Join the online community of Wear Red Canada participants on the WRC Facebook Group. Share your photos of your Movement Challenge and see what other women’s heart health activities are taking place. Follow @CWHHAlliance on Instagram and Twitter and use the hashtags #WearRedCanada and #HerHeartMatters.
