YRT to offer free New Year’s Eve transit
If you’re planning to ring in 2025, you may want to take advantage of York Region Transit (YRT), which is offering free transit on New Year’s Eve after 7 p.m. and extending late-night service to get you to and from your celebrations safely.
Also, schedule and route adjustments will be made on select routes to match customer demand.
Effective Sunday, Dec. 22, YRT will suspend High School Specials during the two-week holiday school closure. It will also add more service via Routes 320 – Jane Express and 360 – Vaughan Mills/Wonderland.
Effective Sunday, Jan. 5, YRT will reinstate High School Specials. Among other service changes, it will restructure Route 411 – Markham District School Special via Box Grove and will revise On-Request Markham and On-Request Woodbridge to fixed YRT routes or provide direct service if fixed routes are not available.
Frequency and service improvements will also be made on some routes. Learn which routes and how to plan at yrt.ca/servicechanges.
YRT and Mobility On-Request Paratransit contact centres will observe holiday service hours. Contact centres are closed Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2024 and Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2025. Hours per day may vary and can be found at holiday service schedules and contact centre hours.
