Yellow Brick House hosts matching campaign
As part of Woman Abuse Prevention Month, Yellow Brick House is launching a Matching Campaign and a Youth Art Workshop and Show to raise awareness, foster community engagement and support survivors of domestic violence.
As part of the November Matching Campaign, all donations made to Yellow Brick House will be matched by the Grey Birch Foundation up to a total of $25,000. Funds raised will cover the annual costs of a shelter bed, providing shelter and life-saving services for women and children fleeing domestic violence.
“This matching campaign is an incredible opportunity for our supporters to amplify their contributions,” says Yellow Brick House CEO Lorris Herenda. “Every dollar donated throughout November will go twice as far, directly benefiting families in need of safety and support.”
Also, this month, Yellow Brick House will present Break the Silence – Echo Empowerment Art Show: A Call for Change in collaboration with the Richmond Hill Art Centre and funded by the York Region Community Investment Fund. Through their creations, young artists will raise their voices to spark conversation and advocate for change, highlighting personal stories and exploring themes of safety, support and healing.
The art show will launch Friday, Nov. 22 from 5 to 7 p.m. and will run Saturday, Nov. 23 to Sunday, Nov. 24 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day at Mill Pond Gallery at 314 Mill St., Richmond Hill.
Since 1978, Yellow Brick House has been providing life-saving services and prevention programs to meet the diverse needs of individuals, families and communities impacted by violence. Its vision is ‘Freedom from violence. Equality for all.’ The organization is committed to providing a wide range of free and confidential support services to women and children experiencing abuse and violence and empowering them to rebuild their lives.
