Warden Avenue closed for urgent repairs, between 16th Ave. and Major Mackenzie Dr.
York Region is making urgent repairs to Warden Avenue south of Major Mackenzie Drive in the City of Markham.
“In order to ensure the safety of the public and out of an abundance of caution, Warden Avenue is closed at the site as of 3 p.m. on September 4,” said Doug Jones, York Region manager of engineering capital support.
In April 2026, the road was closed for emergency repairs at the work site due to settling of the asphalt above it and to stabilize the road before a full repair could be completed.
Due to significant rainfall in the past week, the road has settled even further.
To complete these repairs safely, Warden Avenue from Major Mackenzie Drive to 16th Avenue will be closed.
Warden Avenue is closed to through traffic south of Major Mackenzie Drive until repairs are complete.
Local traffic is only permitted from 16th Avenue to the road closure. Access to homes and businesses will be maintained.
