Waitlist opens for Mon Sheong Markham Long-Term Care Centre
Mon Sheong Markham Long-Term Care Centre is now accepting resident applications through Ontario Health atHome.
Mon Sheong Foundation’s new care home is expected to open its doors in the fall. “Mon Sheong Markham Long-Term Care Centre is our first nursing home in Markham and the largest in the City, representing a pivotal step in expanding quality senior care to our community,” says Mon Sheong Foundation Chairman Tim Kwan.
Construction of the 11-storey, 320-bed building, located at 30 Apple Creek Blvd., began in fall 2023. The state-of-the-art facility offers enhanced Infection Prevention and Control measures, such as an individual heating, ventilation and air conditioning unit installed in every room. Ensuite washrooms are available in both basic and private accommodations and most private rooms are equipped with an ensuite shower room.
Applications and admissions to long-term care homes across Ontario are managed by the provincial organization Ontario Health atHome. Care coordinators at Ontario Health atHome will work with applicants, their families and caregivers to assess eligibility, select appropriate long-term care homes and complete the application process.
Details on the application and admission process are outlined in this Guide to Placement in Long-Term Care Homes or by calling Ontario Health atHome at 310-2222 (no area code required).
