Unionville Charity Golf Classic marks 10 years of impact
The Unionville community will come together once again on June 23 for a milestone celebration: the 10th Annual Unionville Charity Golf Classic, hosted at the renowned Angus Glen Golf Club.
What began as a local initiative has grown into a signature community event, raising more than $600,000 to date in support of seniors living at Union Villa Long-Term Care.
Golfers will kick off the day with 6:30 a.m. registration, breakfast, and access to the driving range, followed by an 8 a.m. start. The tournament concludes with lunch and presentations recognizing the generosity and dedication of participants, sponsors, and volunteers.
The tournament was founded by Danny Fantini and Larry Mariani, two well-known local entrepreneurs with deep roots in the community. Their vision—to bring people together in support of exceptional long-term care—has shaped a decade of meaningful impact.
This milestone year is strengthened by the return of AWIN Group as the tournament’s Signature Sponsor.
Beyond friendly competition, the Unionville Charity Golf Classic is designed to keep golfers engaged with on-course activities that highlight the importance of quality long-term care, as well as the need for innovation and technology to meet the evolving needs of seniors today and in the future.
Funds raised over the past decade have had a direct and tangible impact on the residents of Union Villa. Investments have included resident lifts and slings, enhancements to the dining environment and equipment, and other improvements that support comfort, safety, and a pleasurable dining experience.
This year, proceeds will continue to advance programs and equipment aligned with Union Villa’s dementia-friendly model of care, ensuring residents receive compassionate, person-centred support in an environment designed to help them thrive.
As the tournament celebrates its 10th anniversary, organizers hope to make this the most successful year yet. Community members are invited to participate in a variety of ways—register as a golfer, bring a foursome, become a sponsor, or contribute to the event’s auction.
For more than 55 years, Unionville Home Society, the not-for-profit organization behind Union Villa LTC, has been dedicated to helping seniors live well, age with dignity, and feel connected to a caring community. The Golf Classic has been a vital part of that mission since its inception.
This year’s event is not only a fundraiser—it’s a celebration of compassion, and the shared belief that seniors deserve the very best.
“Unionville Home Society is proud to celebrate the 10th anniversary of our Golf Charity Classic,” said president and CEO Abby Katz Starr. “Reaching this milestone reflects the incredible generosity and ongoing commitment of our community in support of Union Villa Long-Term Care. We extend our sincere thanks to Co-Chairs Danny Fantini and Larry Mariani, along with their dedicated volunteer committee, for their leadership and passion. To all of our sponsors, golfers, and supporters—thank you. Your generosity is helping to enrich the lives of our residents in meaningful and lasting ways”
