Three motorcyclists suffer serious injuries

After attending three separate serious collisions involving motorcycles within a matter of hours, York Regional Police (YRP) is urging all drivers to exercise caution and be aware of others on the roads.

A 28-year-old motorcyclist was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries following a collision involving a motorcycle and a dump truck on Wednesday, Sept. 6 at 11:47 a.m. at Bloomington Road and York-Durham Line in Whitchurch-Stouffville.

At 3:40 p.m., YRP police responded to a collision involving a motorcycle and motor vehicle at the intersection of Rutherford Road and Dufferin Street in Vaughan. The 45-year-old motorcyclist was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries and was later upgraded to serious but non-life-threatening condition.

A 48-year-old motorcyclist was transported to hospital with serious injuries following a collision between a motorcycle and a motor vehicle at 5:21 p.m. at Bayview Avenue and Hwy. 7 East in Richmond Hill.

Investigators are appealing to witnesses or anyone who may have dashcam footage of the areas at the time of the collisions. “Motorcyclists are reminded to always wear appropriate protective gear, including a DOT-approved helmet, ride defensively assuming that other drivers may not see you, obey speed limits and avoid aggressive riding,” says Const. Lisa Moskaluk.
