Swim club secures needed sponsors

Markham Aquatic Club (MAC), a non-profit, community-based swim club, has increased its sponsorship revenue more than 20-fold since 2019 thanks to a growing roster of sponsors.

Growth in sponsorship reflects MAC’s concerted effort to continue offering top high performance swim training while keeping costs down for hundreds of Markham swimmers aged six and up who returned to training when pools re-opened this Fall.

Markham Aquatic Club (MAC) has signed partnerships with three new marquee sponsors: Arena Canada, MadeGood Foods Canada and Canyon Stone Canada Inc.

The largest of MAC’s new sponsorships comes from Arena Canada. Arena is a global leader in high performance racing suits, swimwear, teamwear and equipment. Arena Canada has signed with MAC for a two- year platinum sponsorship. Through its Markham-area dealer Ontario Swim Hub, Arena Canada will provide MAC members with preferred rates on merchandise and provide in-kind support along with teamwear for MAC’s national team members and coaching staff.

“ARENA is proud to announce that we have secured a new Swim Club partnership with the Markham Aquatic Club, said Natasha Cassivi, Marketing Manager for Arena Water Instinct. “Arena and MAC share similar values and ethics contributing to sport excellence while maintaining the pleasure and fun of swimming.’’

MadeGood Foods Canada and Canyon Stone have signed on for their first year with MAC as gold sponsors. MadeGood has also provided MAC members with thousands of healthy snack product samples and will be providing members with a promo code for discounted online shopping. The companies are joined by Awin Auto World Imports Network, Winco Food Mart, Moody’s Private Client, The Fair Trading (International) Company, Benny Chu Financial, Apple Creek Sport Medicine, Bin Bin Crackers and Chat Insurance.

“At a time when many sport clubs are struggling, we’re among a very few athletic organizations to be building and partnering with new sponsors,”MAC president Patrizia Scozzese said. “Our success story is 50 years in the Markham community. Sponsors see the legacy of our club, the incredible talents of our swimmers, the commitment and energy of our volunteers, our coaches and families and the profile and exposure we generate within the swimming community.”

Scozzese added that increased sponsorship revenue will not only help MAC subsidize training costs for more Markham families, it will help the club purchase much-needed equipment, offer social activities and support athlete travel costs.

Markham Aquatic Club is one of Canada’s top competitive swim clubs, training over 300 swimmers from beginner to high-performance level. The club trains out of Markham Pan Am Centre and several new community pools. MAC was the only Markham swim club to field athletes at the 2021 Canadian Olympic swimming trials and the Tokyo Olympics in July 2021.
