Liza Zawadzka and her Grade 12 art class from Father Michael McGivney Catholic Academy (FMM) put together various pieces of artwork at the Markham Village Community Centre and Library on Jan. 12.
The artwork contained various subject matters, as well as sculptures from the Grade 12 class.
Zawadzka has been teaching for over 25 years and is very passionate about her work.
“This year’s art show, Across the Brush, is a metaphor for my students’ creative journey this semester,” Zawadzka said.
“The incredible work created by my Grade 12 students inspired me to share their visions,” she said when asked what motivated her to put on this art show.
It was definitely a night to remember for Zawadzka and her art class including Sheryl Andino, Keisan Antonio, Melanie Chang, Lionel Chung, Megan Collins, Ella-Ruby Ekanayaka, Minki Jiang, Nikitha Thilagaratnam, Chloe Tseng, Marianna Vasquez, Mia Xu, Tiffany Yan, and Jiaqi Zhu.
There were also live performances by students in the FMM Music Council; Janet Li and O’delia Zhong on violin, and Rajan Roberts on keyboard.
Their artwork will be up until Jan. 31. Check it out at the Markham Village Community Centre and Library located at the southeast corner of Markham Rd and Hwy 7.
