Strong turnout at ‘Your City, Your Services, Your Safety’ event
Markham Regional Councillor Alan Ho and Ward 7 Councillor Nimisha Patel recently hosted the “Your City, Your Services, Your Safety” Community Information Event at the Aaniin Community Centre.
The free event drew hundreds of residents eager to learn more about municipal services and community safety.
York Regional Police (YRP), Paramedic Services, York Region Transit (YRT), Markham Fire and Emergency Services, By-law Enforcement, Recreation Services, Markham Public Library (MPL), the Contact Centre, and the Markham Small Business Centre (MSBC) all participated. Representatives shared information through booths, presentations, and interactive Q&A sessions.
The afternoon featured City Services Presentations from 2–4 p.m., followed by a Crime Prevention Forum from 4–5 p.m., where YRP #5 District Inspector Brad Weick discussed recent crime trends, offered safety tips and crime prevention strategies, and addressed residents’ questions. Interactive activities and a lucky draw helped create a lively, engaging atmosphere.
The event wrapped up with positive feedback from attendees, and organizers emphasized their commitment to continuing similar initiatives to strengthen communication with residents and support a safer, more connected community.
