Markham Santa Claus Parade celebrates 50 years
Santa Claus is coming to town and promises to deliver some holiday cheer at the 50th Annual Marham Santa Claus Parade on Saturday, Nov. 30.
The theme of the event, which is presented by the City of Markham and Rotary Clubs of Markham, is The Magic of Christmas. “The longevity of this parade has relied on the steadfast commitment of organizers, community volunteers and enthusiastic parade participants,” says Mayor Frank Scarpitti.
“I’m thrilled to see our community come together for this magical celebration. Whether you’re here for the dazzling floats, the festive music or a glimpse of Santa himself, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Let’s make this milestone year the best one yet, filled with joy, laughter and holiday spirit.”
Jules Romano and Cassandra Romano, sisters of Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Jordan Romano, will serve as this year’s co-grand marshals. Jules was a corporate lawyer before leaving to work at a non-profit helping women access necessary legal support in Toronto.
The parade takes place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will run along Main Street Markham, north of Hwy. 7 to 16th Avenue. You can view the parade from either side of Main Street Markham. Area road closures will begin at 8 a.m. While limited parking is available in the area surrounding the parade route, parking won’t be permitted on Main Street Markham. Paradegoers are encouraged to carpool or take transit. Visit markham.ca/SantaClausParade to learn more.
