Markham Museum welcomes community for 41st Annual AppleFest

AppleFest returns to Markham Museum for its 41st year on September 19, offering a full day of family-friendly activities, local food, and heritage.

Attendees can look forward to a day filled with live entertainment, cider-making, historical artisan demonstrations, family games, apple schnitzing, craft workshops, exhibitions, a dog zone, vendors, and more.

There will be a variety of local food favourites available, including ice cream, apple baked goods, wood oven pizza, empanadas, bubble tea, and more.

Festival-goers can also explore the museum’s exhibitions, including “Everyday Superheroes,” celebrating real-life heroes who make a difference; “Markham Community Makers” which touches on do-it-yourself culture; and “A Picture of Markham: The Art of Pat Wheeler,” featuring the work of the former editorial cartoonist who chronicled community life through her illustrations created for local newspapers during the late 90s.

“Applefest is a true celebration of the community. Without our volunteers, sponsors, vendors, partners, and supporters, there would be no Applefest,” organizers said. “The festival brings local history, businesses, heritage, agriculture, and community spirit to life, offering visitors the rare opportunity to experience historic demonstrations, connect with local and small businesses, learn and participate in heritage and tradition, and celebrate coming together as a community.”
