Markham Mon Sheong Court marks milestone anniversary

Markham Mon Sheong Court (MMSC) is marking a decade of fostering a vibrant, welcoming and supportive community for older adults in Markham.

“When we planned our first Mon Sheong Court project more than two decades ago, we envisioned a dynamic community that supports independent senior living,” said Mon Sheong Foundation Chairman Tim Kwan.

“Today, we are proud to celebrate the 10th anniversary of MMSC and the positive impact it has made over the past decade. We are glad to see what a thriving community it has become today.”

MMSC opened its doors in August 2016 as Mon Sheong Foundation’s third senior apartment. Leading up to anniversary celebrations on August 13, Mon Sheong Foundation held a series of activities and lucky draws that began in mid-July. The milestone celebration featured a lighting ceremony, a karaoke performance and a magic show.

“I am grateful to call MMSC my home,” said Mr. Leung, one of the community’s first residents. “The environment is beautiful, there are many activities to enjoy, and the management staff are always friendly and helpful. The maintenance team takes great care of the building and responds quickly whenever assistance is needed, allowing us to enjoy a worry-free lifestyle.”

MMSC credits its success to its commitment to promoting healthy, active and socially engaged lifestyles. It offers more than 70 weekly activities that cater to a wide range of interests and abilities. Communal dining and social engagement are an integral part of life at MMSC, it adds. The community hosts five major festive parties annually, including Lunar New Year, Mid-Autumn Festival and Christmas.

“At MMSC, we place great importance on the social well-being of our residents,” said MMSC Management Committee Chair Ronald Tse. “Our property management team is committed to proactively planning and delivering a diverse range of programs and activities that enable seniors to make the most of their golden years.”

MMSC is one of Mon Sheong Foundation’s three senior apartments. This year, Mon Sheong is set to launch its fourth senior apartment, Markham Buttonville Mon Sheong Court, which will be home to more than 330 residential units.
