Markham Libraries set for big investments
Two Markham Public Library branches are set for exciting but costly improvements.
Markham City Council has approved Aaniin Library and Markham Village Library to receive about $675,000 for new automated equipment.
The equipment includes two automated book-sorting systems, one for each library. The systems will help staff sort returned items more efficiently.
Nine new staff RFID workstations will let staff check in multiple items at a time. Aaniin Library will get five, and Markham Village Library will get four.
Each library will also get four self-checkout kiosks, making it easier for guests to check out items.
Finally, the Aaniin Library will get four RFID security gates to protect library materials.
