Markham companies among Best Workplaces for Mental Wellness

Two Markham companies – Aviva Canada and Hyundai Auto Canada Corp. – landed on the Great Place to Work® 2024 roster of Best Workplaces™ for Mental Wellness.

Companies featured on the list have made a commitment to promoting and safeguarding the mental well-being of their valued employees, according to Great Place to Work.

Aviva Canada, a property and casualty insurance group, offers up to $2,500 per employee and per eligible dependent for mental and wellness services such as psychological, psychotherapy, and clinical counselling. It also offers access to free resources like guided meditation sessions, mindfulness exercises and cognitive behavioural therapy.

Hyundai was recognized for such benefits as a Statutory Leave Top Up, which includes a Parental Leave Top-Up that includes five paid days off immediately following the birth or adoption of a child, Maternity Leave Top-Up, Compassionate Care Leave Top-Up and Family Caregiver Leave Top-Up. Through Bright Breaks, a workday well-being program, educators invite employees to take part in fitness classes, and breathe and stretch breaks.

To be eligible for Best Workplaces for Mental Wellness, organizations must be Great Place to Work-Certified™ in the past year, have at least 100 employees and at least 80 per cent of employees must agree their workplace is psychologically and emotionally healthy. Great Place to Work determined the best based on employee responses to its Mental Wellness Index.
