Three Markham companies have placed among the top 50 Best Workplaces™ in Canada in the 1,000+ Employees category, including Hyundai Auto Canada (HAC), the only automotive brand on the list.
“The second year of the pandemic left us with a set of unique and challenging circumstances, but ones we continue to tackle head-on,” Kirk Merrett, director of human resources and administration, says of the honour. “Anchored to a solid foundation of camaraderie and trust, HAC has moved forward the only way we know how – together.”
Hyundai landed at No. 19. This is the fifth consecutive year the Markham-based company made the list, which is compiled by the Great Place to Work® Institute. The competition process is employee driven and is based on two criteria. Two-thirds of the total score comes from confidential employee survey results and the remaining one-third from an in-depth review of the organization’s culture. Together, that information provides crucial data relative to five trust-building dimensions: credibility, respect, fairness, pride and camaraderie, the Institute explains.
HAC was recognized for multiplying its communication touchpoints with employees throughout the pandemic to keep them informed about rapid changes taking place and their impact. The company was also recognized for fostering a culture of diversity, equity and inclusion.
Genesys®, a global leader in cloud customer experience and contact centre solutions, ranked No. 28. Astellas Pharma Canada, Inc., the Canadian affiliate of Tokyo-based Astellas Pharma Inc., a pharmaceutical company that conducts business in more than 70 countries, was recognized for the seventh consecutive year, ranking No. 47 on the list.
“We are humbled to be named year over year as a Best Workplace in Canada but must acknowledge our incredible employees for their role in this recognition,” says General Manager Frank Stramaglia. “They are who make Astellas a great place to work every day and their passion and commitment to our vision to turn innovative science into value for patients is what makes Astellas truly unique.”
