Markham at the Movies presents The Long Rider

Markham at the Movies presents The Long Rider at the Markham Theatre.

An inspirational and emotional true story of the most daring and epic proportions. The film documents one man’s perseverance and personal triumph over adversity to fulfil his long-held dream.

In The Long Rider, Brazilian-born and just 25 years old at the time, Filipe Masetti Leite travelled 16,000 km through six countries from his Calgary home to his parent’s ranch in Brazil.

At a deliberate pace of 3 km/hour, the trip took more than two years, making Leite the youngest person to cross the Americas on horseback.

The obstacles, loneliness and setbacks along the way, often question the sanity of the journey and are part of the reason why long riding is considered a dying art.

After the film, there will be a Q&A with The Long Rider, director and movie producers as well as a meet and greet with a book signing.

The screening takes place on November 29 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $12 at the door.
