Markham Public Library (MPL) offers a wide array of programs for people of all ages in the Markham community.
Here’s a look at what’s happening in November.
Racism and Mental Health Zoom session on November 3 at noon. Through this workshop, participants will be introduced to some basic terms around racism such as prejudice, stigma and discrimination. It will also provide tips on promoting our wellness and self-care journey and how to respond/reach out for help in situations that feel discriminatory.
Yoga in Hindi Zoom sessions starting on November 7 at 10:40AM. Join the weekly fluid moving yoga class ideal for beginners who are part of our Hindi speaking community. This 30 minute class will be instructed in primarily Hindi.
Supporting Loved Ones who are Survivors Zoom session on November 8 at 6PM. November is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Women’s Support Network will be discussing how to support survivors of intimate partner violence and sexual assault.
Taxes 101: Maximizing the Canada Child Benefit Zoom sessions starting on November 9 at 7PM. Join a series of Taxes 101 workshops that will answer all your tax-related questions, including information on different return benefits, and tips for maximizing your return. This five series workshop will prepare you right in time for tax season.
Turning Problem Behaviour into Positive Behaviour Zoom session on November 16 at 1PM. Are your children having tantrums, difficulty following directions, hitting objects, and showing aggressive behavior towards themselves or others? In this workshop, you will be provided with tools and ways to help your child find alternative ways to change their behavior in a positive way.
5 Steps to Tax and Estate Planning Zoom session on November 18 at 3:30PM. This presentation examines the different steps to follow and various tools that can be used to create an effective estate plan. You will gain a detailed understanding of Wills, powers of attorney, and executors. Learn how your financial advisor can help you set realistic goals, preserve your wealth, and transfer your estate per your wishes.
75 Ways to Save on Household Expenses Zoom session on November 22 at 5:30PM. Participants will gather tips on how to save on various household expenses including utilities, transportation, groceries and personal items. Participants will also be encouraged to share their best practices with each other.
