Hope Shines Here gala supports children in medical crisis

Jennifer Ashleigh Children’s Charity (JenAsh) will host its Annual Auction and Dinner Gala at Angus Glen Golf Club on May 1, bringing together supporters to raise funds to provide financial relief for families caring for children in medical crisis.

For 35 years, thanks to many generous donors and supporters, JenAsh has provided financial support to thousands of seriously ill children, while their families struggled financially to provide care and treatment.

This year’s Gala, themed Hope Shines Here, promises an unforgettable evening featuring a cocktail reception, live entertainment, games, inspiring speakers, and both silent and live auctions. Auction items include jewellery, gift certificates, luxury cottage stays, trips, e-bikes, high-end appliances, and more.

Mother Kathy P, whose son Daniel bravely fought cancer, shared her gratitude: “Without your assistance, I honestly don’t know how we would have managed. You gave us hope when it felt like there was none and reminded me that we weren’t alone in this battle.”

She continued, “Your work is more than impactful, it is essential. You provide a lifeline to families like mine during our vulnerable moments, and I will forever be grateful for the role you played in our lives. You enabled me to focus on what truly mattered: Daniel’s care, comfort and love.”

Adrienne Grant, executive director at JenAsh, who will speak at the event, shared the intense passion her team demonstrates: “Everyone who works at this charity has a passion for helping others. It can get heavy in the office at times when we hear the stories of struggle and pain, but we are inspired by the courage of the kids and the dedication of the parents who are doing everything they can for their children. We have the honour of playing a small part in their journey by extending compassion, hope and practical support in their time of need. I know of no other charity in the province who helps bridge this gap in such an inclusive and significant way.”
