Honouring community champions in Markham

The “Community Strength – Service & Dedication Award Ceremony” was recently held in Markham, bringing together local leaders and changemakers for an evening of recognition and celebration. The event was jointly hosted by Regional Councillor Alan Ho, Mayor Frank Scarpitti, and the Canadian Association for Artistic Multicultural Exchange.

The ceremony welcomed a diverse audience of community leaders, volunteers, media representatives, and organizations, all gathered to honour individuals who have made exceptional contributions to volunteerism, community building, and multicultural engagement. The atmosphere was both inspiring and heartfelt, reflecting the shared commitment to strengthening Markham’s vibrant and inclusive community.

With over 300 award recipients from a wide range of backgrounds and fields, the ceremony highlighted the strength of volunteerism and growing civic engagement within Markham’s diverse community.

Awards were presented across numerous categories, showcasing the breadth and diversity of contributions. These included honours for media, leadership, community service, cultural exchange, partnerships, youth leadership, and professional excellence—each representing a vital piece of the city’s dynamic and interconnected community.
