Markham Village BIA recently announced the grand opening of its award-winning Farmers’ Market and the in-person return of Science Rendezvous festival. This double-header event will take place on May 13 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Main Street Markham.
The Farmers’ Market features a diverse array of locally-sourced produce, artisanal crafts and more. Visitors can shop and connect with local vendors, all while enjoying the vibrant atmosphere of Main Street Markham.
Science Rendezvous invites everyone to join the fun and CREATE! Facilitated by York University in partnership with Main Street Markham and York U’s Science Engagement Programs, this exciting, free, interactive science festival takes science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM) out of the lab and onto the street in true festive style for all to discover and experience. Stage shows, robotics, virtual reality, INVENTours, large-scale experiments and demonstrations will educate, delight and excite the young and the young at heart.
The kids will enjoy Giant Human Bubbles, Fire Tornado, Dissection Scopes, Water Piano, Chemistry Magic Show, Ping-pong explosion, Virtual Reality Molecue Manipulation, Magic Smoke Bubbles, DNA Experiments, Food Web Jenga and more.
With over 300 events across 30 cities and 1000s of mind-blowing activities, Science Rendezvous is Canada’s largest celebration of the amazing feats of science and engineering happening right here at home.
“We are thrilled to have Science Rendezvous return to Main Street Markham and provide an opportunity for the community to connect with science and technology in a fun and engaging way,” Markham Village BIA spokesperson Heather Cook said. “We encourage everyone to bring their whole family and join us for a day filled with entertainment, education, and community spirit.”
The event will take place in the Guardian Pharmacy parking lot located at 102 Main Street N (Main Street Markham and Robinson Street). Visitors can enjoy ample free parking along Main Street and easy accessibility on-site.
