Dog-friendly Halloween fun for the whole family
Markham Dog Alliance (MDA) is inviting pups and their people to its 4th annual Halloween Howl on October 19 at the Pride of Canada Carousel. The dog-friendly event will feature costumes, contests, and community fun—all in support of local rescue efforts.
Founded as a community group which then incorporated as a registered business in 2023, MDA is dedicated to building inclusive, dog-friendly community events across York Region.
“This event has a significant positive impact on the community,” said founder Gregory Calleri. “It not only brings people together in a fun and festive way but also supports an important cause by helping Full Circle Rescue.”
Guests can enjoy the dog costume parade, rides on the carousel, the Halloween-themed photo booth, hourly costume contests, and more than 30 vendors offering everything from food and beverages to dog wellness, accessories, treats, and rescue services.
FCR rescues strays, abandoned and abused dogs and places these dogs into caring foster homes. At the event, in addition to providing charity information, the team will be selling merchandise, including Halloween dog costumes.
“Interacting with residents of Markham and surrounding areas is so important for us,” said Amber, founding member of FCR. “We are constantly looking for committed fosters, and these areas have so many families in them, that we are hopeful to provide information about the benefits of fostering and to gain new fosters.”
