Work underway for Ontario Honda Dealers Indy
Preparations are underway for the 2026 Ontario Honda Dealers Indy, which will hit the streets here this summer.
Announced in September 2025, a new partnership between The City of Markham, Green Savoree Toronto ULC and IndyCar will bring the annual race to Markham Centre for the next five years, starting Friday, Aug. 14 to Sunday, Aug. 16.
The City’s role is ensuring roads are suitable for racing. The temporary track will be built in the eastern precinct of Markham’s downtown core, between Kennedy Road, Enterprise Boulevard, Unionville GO tracks and Hwy. 407. The circuit features a 12-turn, 3.52-kilometer (2.19-mile) layout, including a double-sided pit lane, thrilling straightaways and technically challenging sectors.
Streets that form part of the race circuit will be closed during the event, including Enterprise Boulevard East, University Boulevard, YMCA Boulevard and Kennedy Road South between Unionville Gate and YMCA Boulevard.
Work is currently underway in preparation for the race, including paving of the City-owned Unionville GO access road. Improvements are being made along key routes, including replacement of existing sidewalks, curbs and medians and installation of new traffic signals and pedestrian crossovers. Residents can expect partial closures during construction.
Due to ongoing construction at Unionville GO Station, the East overflow parking lot, along with the access road, will remain closed. Overflow parking is available at Pan Am Centre, which is approximately a 10-minute walk from Unionville GO Station. It can be accessed from Main Street Unionville and exited via YMCA Boulevard. Driving directions can be found on the Unionville Station page at gotransit.com. Mount Joy GO Station is roughly a 20-minute drive from Unionville GO Station.
