Where nature meets nurture

Get ready to discover a special little adventure right here in our vibrant community of Markham. Nestled amidst 21 acres of picturesque farmland and forest lies Chava Farms – a haven of serenity and excitement for all ages and abilities.

Chava Farms is not just a farm; it’s a vibrant destination dedicated to outdoor education, therapeutic experiences, and heartwarming connections with nature. It was established as a registered charity in 2023.

The team welcomes children and families from Kaylas Children Centre, the Dani Centre and Chai Lifeline every week.

From the beginning, the vision was to provide a place where you could unplug from the hustle and bustle of daily life and immerse yourself in the wonders of the natural world and the healing power of connecting with animals. From horseback riding to equine therapy and animal-assisted therapy to fun-filled educational programs and summer camps, there’s something for everyone to explore and enjoy.

Chava Farms is really a lot more than just a little farm; created by one of Ontario’s women entrepreneur farmers, it’s part of a long-term vision for a brighter, greener, more connected and healthier future. There are plans to construct a new barn, establish a regenerative vegetable farm and greenhouse, and launch a Kosher Farm-to-Table nutrition program and a community events calendar.

Founder Sara Tamar Ackermann’s passion and dedication really shine through in every aspect of Chava Farms.

“As she aptly puts it, “The animals are a joy, the riders and campers we welcome are inspiring, and the days are long. We have a lot of work to do yet, but with our community by our side, I know this dream will become a beautiful reality we can all share for generations.”

It doesn’t matter whether you’re a seasoned equestrian enthusiast, a curious beginner, or simply looking to reconnect with nature in a meaningful way, Chava Farms welcomes you with open arms.

Ackermann and her team have a special community open house set for June 10 and 13 from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Registration is required as space is limited.

“Come join us on this extraordinary journey – where the mud, hay, and occasional goat wrangling only add to the charm of our shared adventure,” adds Ackermann.

For more information or to register for the open house, call 647-989-1836 or visit www.chavafarms.net.

How can you help the farm located at 11162 Kennedy Road? Consider a $20 donation to support the animals.
