Suspect wanted for indecent exposure

Investigators with the York Regional Police are seeking public assistance in identifying a suspect following two indecent acts in the City of Markham.

On July 17, at approximately 1:20 a.m, a victim was walking in the area of Hillcroft Drive and Gillingham Avenue when the suspect began following the victim on foot while not wearing pants or underwear. The suspect fled when the victim called police.

A second incident involving the same suspect was reported the next day.

On July 18, shortly before 1 a.m., another victim was walking in the area of Marydale Avenue and Elson Street when the suspect approached, pulled down his shorts and exposed himself. The suspect then fled westbound on Elson Street toward Markham Road.

The suspect is described as male, Asian, 5’6”, with black curly hair and glasses.

Investigators believe there may be additional victims and are encouraging anyone with information to come forward.

Anyone who was in either area at the time of the incidents, witnessed suspicious activity, or has information that may assist the investigation is urged to contact police.

Police are reminding members of the public to remain aware of their surroundings when walking alone at night and to call 9-1-1 immediately if they see anything suspicious or feel unsafe.
