Showcasing the richness of Chinese culture

The Markham Chinese Heritage Month celebration event “We Are One Family – Traditional Chinese Costume Heritage Show” was held in the Markham Civic Centre on Feb. 19 and welcomed about 500 residents.

The celebration showcased the richness of Chinese culture through traditional costumes, music, and performances, captivating attendees of all ages.

As the first event of Markham’s Chinese Heritage Month, it symbolized unity, diversity, and community spirit.

The event was co-organized by Regional Councillor Alan Ho and Mayor Frank Scarpitti with the assistance of the Canada Association for Artistic Multicultural Exchange.

The City of Markham proclaimed February as Chinese Heritage Month in recognition of the invaluable contributions of the Chinese community to Markham’s cultural, economic, and social landscape.
