Night Market a festival of culture, flavours

The Dynamite Night Market promises an explosion of culture, flavours and entertainment in Markham.

Produced by Waterfront Night Market (WNM), the inaugural event honours the traditions and heritage of Asian culture. It’s anchored by a Pan-Asian Food Festival with traditional street-styled vendors and features the Illuminasian Lantern Zone and Dynamite World Inflatable Kids’ Zone.

Dynamite, a non-binary dragon, is the official mascot of the WNM. With each paid adult ticket, kids ages 12 and younger will receive a complimentary Dynamite Passport. They can collect activity stamps and take pictures with cultural lion costumes and float a water lantern in the custom-built water display.

The event will be held Friday, Sept. 2 from 4 p.m. to midnight, Saturday, Sept. 3 from 2 p.m. to midnight and Sunday, Sept. 4 from 2 to 10 p.m. An opening ceremony by Sifu Ian Chow of Northern Legs Southern Fists features a traditional Lion Dance & Dragon Show. Saturday night features a kung-fu demonstration. A variety of Asian-Canadian performers will perform light music each evening.

The Dynamite Night Market will be held at the Markham Fairgrounds at 10801 McCowan Rd. To learn more and/or to purchase tickets, visit www.DynamiteNightMarket.com. Follow @dynamitenightmarket or @wnmfest on Instagram, or Dynamite Night Market or Waterfront Night Market on Facebook.
