Markham welcomes 52 new citizens

O Canada! The City of Markham hosted a citizenship ceremony welcoming 52 of Canada’s newest citizens representing 16 countries.

Judge Rodney Simmons presided over the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada ceremony, held at the Markham Civic Centre on Saturday, July 1.

Applicants took the oath for their Canadian citizenship in both English and French. Special guests included Markham-Unionville MP Paul Chiang and Vaughhan-Woodbridge MP Francesco Sorbara.

Markham hosted its last ceremony on July 1, 2019 prior to the pandemic.
