In the true spirit of community that jazz music fosters, the 2023 Markham Jazzlicious WinterFest will bring together food lovers and music enthusiasts for a night of culinary delights and live jazz performances.
Guests will enjoy a gourmet dinner, prepared by some of Markham’s top chefs, followed by an intimate performance of award-winning Canadian jazz artists.
“True to our roots as a diverse city rich in cultural heritage, Destination Markham is thrilled to announce the first-ever Markham Jazzlicious WinterFest,” Destination Markham executive director Eric Lariviere says. “Markham’s culinary sector comprises an incredible number of great chefs and restaurants, along with an unmatched diversity of cuisines, from home-cooked and authentic experiences to fine dining. Some of the most celebrated Canadian jazz artists will complete the culinary experience with brilliant performances. It’s a win-win for the many foodies who love music and everyone who wants to have a fun night out.”
“We are excited to partner with Destination Markham to help people discover what a culturally vibrant place Markham is,” notes Linda Briggs, Chair of the TD Markham Jazz Festival. “The home of great jazz in York Region for 25 years is also a trove of superb dining. Put the two together and you have a terrific, one-of-a-kind entertainment experience.”
The winter 2023 program includes three separate events, each one offering three nights of dinner and music.
Heather Bambrick at NextDoor Restaurant, featuring Chef Isaac Co, January 31 to February 2; Molly Johnson at Draco, featuring Chef Bill Jewer, March 8 to 10; and Emilie-Claire Barlow at Essence of Unionville, featuring Chef Jitin Gaba, March 15 to 17.
Each season, Flato Markham Theatre presents local and international performances in classical, jazz, world music, dance, comedy, pop artists, and family entertainment in its intimate, state-of-the-art facility. This year, Markham Jazzlicious WinterFest is collaborating with the theatre to sponsor a Dinner + Jazz Contest. Guests are invited to enjoy a dinner at a Markham restaurant, purchase a ticket to see Matt Dusk Sings Sinatra (Feb. 3) at Flato Markham Theatre and have a chance to win one of three fabulous prizes. Prizes will be drawn on stage during the evening of the show. For details, visit jazzlicious.ca/dinner-jazz-contest.
