Markham Grand Eid celebration

On April 19, over 500 community members and dignitaries gathered at the Markham Civic Centre to celebrate Eid at the vibrant Markham Grand Eid Gathering, hosted by Markham Community Connect and the Islamic Society of Markham.

A highlight of the event was the finals of the Ramadan Connect 2025 Youth Competition, where children 14 and under showcased their talents in Azan, Asma Ul Husna, and Quran Recitation, selected from over 300 entries.

Families also participated in a vibrant Home Decor Challenge.

Mayor Frank Scarpitti called it “a historic day for Markham’s diverse community,” as he joined other dignitaries, including the Deputy Mayor, Regional and Ward Councillors, the Fire Chief, and representatives from York Regional Police, in honouring the youth and celebrating the occasion.
