Markham companies have Most Trusted Executives

Two Markham-based companies made the list of the 2024 Best Workplaces™ with Most Trusted Executive Teams by Great Place to Work®.

Aviva Canada and Hyundai Auto Canada Corp. each earned the honour from the Great Place to Work® Institute, which identifies the following five dimensions to building trust: credibility, fairness, respect, camaraderie and pride.

Aviva Canada is one of the leading property and casualty insurance groups in the country, providing home, automobile, lifestyle and business insurance to 2.4 million customers. A subsidiary of UK-based Aviva plc, it has more than 4,000 employees who enjoy perks that include up to $2,500 in mental health and wellness services per employee and per eligible dependent.

The coverage includes psychological, psychotherapy and clinical counselling along with free resources like guided meditation sessions and mindfulness exercises as well as cognitive behavioural therapy. Eighty-six per cent of employees say Aviva Canada is a great place to work compared to 60 per cent of employees at a typical Canadian organization.

Hyundai has grown into one of the best-selling and award-winning foreign manufacturers in Canada since entering the market in 1983. Manager-level team members and up drive the newest Hyundai vehicles, a perk that includes a gas card, winter tires, cost of insurance and maintenance. Every employee is eligible to lease up to two vehicles at a reduced lease rate.

In addition to offering respected mental wellness benefits, Hyundai offers a hybrid office work model that features complimentary breakfast and lunch when working at the office and on-site registered massage therapy appointments. Ninety-three per cent of employees say Hyundai is a great place to work compared to 60 per cent of employees at a typical Canadian organization.

To be eligible for the 2024 Best Workplaces™ with Most Trusted Executive Teams list, companies must be Great Place to Work-Certified™ and have exceptionally high scores from employees on the Trust Index survey. Great Place to Work® reports conducting a thorough and independent analysis based on direct feedback from employees it surveyed at hundreds of organizations.
