Doors Open Markham returns with cultural landmarks to explore

Doors Open Markham is once again inviting residents to come out and enjoy Markham’s fascinating cultural sites and invites the public to explore the stories within. 

This year, Markham is presenting 13 locations throughout the City that display the deep history Markham has built through time.

One of the landmarks is the York District School Board Museum, which features a recreated late-1800s classroom and the opportunity for visitors to write on slates.

The Markham Museum is offering a 30-minute guided tour of the collections vault, archives, and curatorial workroom. Discover areas rarely seen by the public. 

Markham Village is also offering a 45-minute guided street tour of the “Heart of Markham Village”, showcasing historical buildings and sites in the commercial core of the village. Tours go from 10 a.m to 1p.m.

The event is part of Doors Open Ontario, a province-wide endeavour celebrating its 25th year where historical sites are open to the public.

Doors Open Markham takes place on September 26, with most events running from 10 a.m to 4 p.m.
