Community gathers to welcome the Year of the Snake
Millions around the world prepare to celebrate Lunar New Year 2025, ushering in the Year of the Snake, a symbol of wisdom, intuition, and transformation. According to the Chinese zodiac, those born under this sign are said to be intelligent, strategic, and resourceful.
As part of the celebrations, MP Paul Chiang recently hosted hundreds of residents at his annual Lunar New Year event, bringing the community together for an afternoon of cultural performances and traditional foods.
A highlight of the festivities was Chiang presenting York Regional Police Chief Jim MacSween and Markham Mayor Frank Scarpitti with a Coronation Medal of King Charles III in recognition of their years of dedicated service to the community.
To close the event on a festive note, the God of Fortune made a special surprise appearance, delighting attendees and spreading good luck for the year ahead.
