City seeks representatives for its Black Youth Liaison Committee

The Mayor’s Black Youth Liaison Committee will be a voice for Black youth in the City of Markham by providing an open forum for youth to convey perspectives on issues and initiatives that are of particular importance to them.

The committee will provide guidance and advice to the city to support Black youth in the community and combat anti-Black racism, in collaboration with key city staff, including political leaders, community stakeholders and the city’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Specialist.

Applications are being accepted to fill a minimum of eight spots (with 1 to 2 representatives from each of Markham, Milliken, Thornhill and Unionville). Applications are being accepted until April 2.

If you will be between 15 to 19 years of age at the start of your term and a resident of Markham, visit https://www.markham.ca/wps/portal/home/about/volunteering/opportunities/05-opportunities for more information and to apply. If you have any questions, call Laura Gold through 905.477.7000.

Let’s build Markham’s future together!
