Honda Indy builds momentum with new sponsor, ticket giveaway

With just weeks to go before the inaugural Ontario Honda Dealers Indy at Markham, organizers have announced a major partnership to help bring the new downtown street race to life.

The Ontario Honda Dealers Indy at Markham has named Brandt Tractor Ltd. a founding partner and the event’s official track build sponsor ahead of the Aug. 14-16 race weekend.

“Brandt is a vital, new partner to help us complete the critical process of the track build of this exciting new circuit from the ground up,” said Jeff Atkinson, president of the Ontario Honda Dealers Indy at Markham. “Having strong, local partners on board makes the connection to the region even more special. We are excited to work together on the inaugural event in 2026 and for many years to come as we build a lasting, impactful legacy in Downtown Markham.”

With race weekend fast approaching, tickets for the inaugural event are now available, and the City of Markham is helping boost community participation through its I’m In for Indy ticket giveaway for residents.

Residents can “go into one of our community centres, look for the poster, I’m In for Indy, and scan the QR code,” Mayor Frank Scarpitti said. “And we’ll be drawing for tickets every Friday until August 4th. So this is a wonderful opportunity. This is the inaugural of Indy here in the City of Markham. We’re very excited. The track is finished. The excitement is building, and the Indy is coming. Scarpitti also encouraged residents to take advantage of Free Fan Friday, which offers complimentary admission on Aug. 14.

“This (Honda Indy) is an exciting experience. I mean, especially, by the way, on Friday, it’s free Fan Friday. So everyone gets in for free,” Scarpitti said. “You’ll be able to see some of the qualifying, but more importantly, you also get up close to some of the cars and the track itself. So that’s courtesy of the Ontario Honda dealers, and that’s free on Friday. So, great to see the beautiful racing cars, and obviously, to experience that action on trackside, it’s like any sport, when you’re seeing it live, there’s nothing like it.”
